I almost totally ignored them this year, plopped them in some pots and hooked them up to the drip system and then left them to suffer in the shade of taller plants, no extra foodMichellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07812702328134261533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439775590468820468.post-556301656613381672014-11-24T14:18:12.470-08:002014-11-24T14:18:12.470-08:00Those broccoli plants were really superstars. I would call that an amazingly great value!Dave @ HappyAcreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03441364543023807886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439775590468820468.post-85019844366556916182014-11-24T13:20:27.536-08:002014-11-24T13:20:27.536-08:00Nice harvest, especially for late November. Sometimes I'll separate them, but generally not, especially if the florets are small. I've never really thought about one part overwhelming the other, but you're right, the leaves aren't as sweet as the stalks and florets. I do like to blanch and shock the leafy shoots before using them in a Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07812702328134261533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439775590468820468.post-76563433146031761872014-11-24T10:30:35.889-08:002014-11-24T10:30:35.889-08:00It's too bad that those chillies were not as f...It's too bad that those chillies were not as flavourful as expected. They sure are beautiful, as are those carrots. How do you cook up the broccoli greens? I tried incorporating some of them into a cream of broccoli soup, but the flavour of the broccoli was almost overpowered by the flavour of the leaves. I'm thinking they may be better if used in the same way as collards.Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15949946977793864054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439775590468820468.post-45051728188637925052014-11-24T09:28:43.984-08:002014-11-24T09:28:43.984-08:00I got almost 90 pounds of onions for my $11 bunch ...I got almost 90 pounds of onions for my $11 bunch of seedlings last year, I think that's actually a pretty good deal. It's $11.35 this year, which still seems fair to me. True, if you can get someone to share a few bunches it's a great deal.Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07812702328134261533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439775590468820468.post-83203739514158140022014-11-24T08:58:33.003-08:002014-11-24T08:58:33.003-08:00Lovely harvests. Though what I really need are some people in my area to split it. The costs are high for a couple bunches, but really low when the numbers get higher.
