There are nearly a dozen Anna's hummingbirds that frequent the three feeders that I maintain. The majority of them use one feeder, actually two feeders, but only one at a time. I think most of them were "raised" on my feeders and seem to be quite accustomed to me. They don't mind when I'm around and if I stay still they will use the feeders when I'm very close by. It is so much fun to watch them buzz in and out and around the feeder. They buzz around me like I'm not even there. So, the other day I stood about three feet from a feeder with my camera and took a bunch of photos. I share with you the best of the bunch.
They are beautiful! And to be able to have them humming all around you... fantastic!

ReplyDeleteWow. That's crazy. My Anna's are so aggressive, I can't imagine seeing two of them on the same feeder, much less on the same perch.
ReplyDeleteLisa and Robb, someone told me that juvenile hummers and their mother will share a feeder. Indeed, in the spring there are a lot of juveniles that share the feeders and I've noticed that as they mature they continue to do so. I've got 4 feeders and I've noticed that there is usually one of them that is dominated by one male, the rest get shared.
